Winfred Ndote, a member of Kimisitu DT Sacco since April 2022, is celebrating three years of growth and transformation both personally and in business. Speaking about her journey, Winfred described joining Kimisitu DT Sacco as one of the best decisions she ever made, noting that Kimisitu DT Sacco has played a key role in expanding her furniture production business.
“In my first year, after saving consistently, I qualified for a loan which I was able to self-guarantee,” she shared. “At first, I honestly doubted it and even thought it might be a scam. But I applied through the mobile app, and to my surprise, it was approved and disbursed seamlessly.”
Winfred says what stood out most about our loan products was its simplicity and speed. With just a touch on the app, she was able to access funds when needed, with the money deposited directly into her FOSA account. In her second year as a member, she took another step of securing a development loan, which she says significantly boosted her business growth.
She managed to finance her furniture business, known as Grand Mark Furniture, which manufactures a wide range of products including sofa sets, dining sets, beds, coffee tables, and more. The business has expanded steadily and has two branches. One is in Nairobi, Utawala along the bypass at Heritage Plaza, and another in Kisii Town, opposite Quickmart Supermarket.
She first learned about Kimisitu DT Sacco through her sister, who worked with IOM. She was inspired by how easily she accessed loans and the positive experiences she shared about the Sacco. “At the time, Kimisitu DT Sacco was only recruiting members from NGOs and international organizations, so I couldn’t join immediately,” she explained. “But once membership was open to everyone, I joined right away.”
Today, Winfred says she is proud to be a member and believes her future is bright. She also encouraged people who are not part of any Sacco to consider joining Kimisitu DT Sacco. “Kimisitu always comes through in time of need,” she said. “The staff have been incredibly helpful throughout my journey, and honestly, I have no complaints.”
